Bio Dalton Stanland

Dalton Stanland is a three-time DownBeat magazine student award-winning saxophonist

Dalton Stanland is a three-time DownBeat magazine student award-winning saxophonist. His accolades include recognition as a soloist in the Blues/Pop/Rock category, as well as awards for groups “Stunkland Stink Stank” in the Blues/Pop/Rock Group category and the “Dalton Stanland Latin Jazztet” in the Latin Group category. He is a recently graduated saxophone performance student at the University of Kentucky, under the direction of Miles and Lisa Osland. He has had the honor to perform with notable guest artists including Miguel Zenon, Derek Brown, Ryan= Middaugh, and Ernie Watts. Dalton has also received other musical awards including the UK School of Music John Barnes Chance Composition Award and The Woodwinds/Percussion/Jazz (Jazz Division) McCracken Award twice. His most recent composition accomplishments include original composition for the UK Wind Symphony entitled “Desiderium” to be performed fall of 2024 and “Pogo” featured at the 2023 Jazz Education Network (JEN) conference. Dalton also cofounded with colleague Dez Rogers “J.J. Band”, a collective comprised of Jazz musicians that has performed at various venues, weddings and events. He continues to hone his craft as he pursues a career in Jazz performance and composition.
